If you’re in physical therapy, we know you want to return to a pain-free, functional life. And if you want to return to your sport, you need even more than traditional physical therapy, you need customized training to avoid injuring yourself again (especially youth athletes who are at a higher risk of re-injury!)
Everyone has a unique injury, body, and physical goal, so everyone needs a customized training program to get back on track.

It’s not “overuse,” it’s “underprepared”
Many common sports injuries are said to be caused by “overuse,” but for us, we say they’re caused by being “underprepared.” When you start training the right muscle groups at the level needed to excel, you will have less pain and reduce your risk for injury. Led by a board certified physical therapist, you can expect our physical therapy to look and feel like a personalized workout.
What if I’m not “an Athlete?”
Even though we started EPI because we were appalled by the re-injury rate in youth sports, we’re passionate about encouraging life-long activity for everyone. If you like to be active, we can help you move more safely and with less pain, no matter your age.

What’s it like at EPI?
”We were introduced to EPI over two years ago when our daughter had surgery for an ACL reconstruction. EPI was an integral part of her rehabilitation and recovery. Thomas and John made our daughter feel like she was their only patient. Their personal approach, along with a customized program that included strength, conditioning, and nutrition, allowed our daughter to recover and improve in so many ways. Due to our time with EPI, our daughter has increased her speed and agility as well as her strength and conditioning. Even after full recovery, our daughter continues to train with EPI. She looks forward to every session.”

FAQs
DO I NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR FIRST BEFORE COMING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY?
No, you do not. The state of Maryland allows a patient to consult with, and receive treatment from, a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor. This is a big advantage for you as it allows us to start treatment quicker, which often leads to you feeling better faster.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Loose fitting, work out attire is best. Your clothing should not restrict your movement and should be easy to access the injured area.
DO I HAVE TO BE INJURED TO RECEIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY?
No, you do not. At EPI, we take a comprehensive look at the way your body moves to determine any mobility deficits, muscle imbalances, strength deficits, or motor control deficits you have that may contribute to current or future injury, limit your success with strength training, or negatively impact your athletic performance. Our Performance Therapy Sessions offer a combination of manual therapy and corrective exercises to help you move your best, so you can train your best and perform your best.
WILL YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF ANYONE ELSE WHILE I'M WITH YOU?
No, our philosophy is to provide direct 1-on-1 treatment to our clients to avoid being distracted by multiple patients with overlapping appointment times. This allows each of our patients to receive high quality care during each appointment and leads to them moving better, feeling better, and getting back on the field, court, track, or course faster.
DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?
Most likely. We are currently in-network with some insurances. If you are interested in working with us and would like to know more about your specific insurance carrier, give us a call to discuss.
For our clients without an in-network insurance, we have a reasonable out-of-pocket rate. We will provide you with all the necessary documents for you to submit a self claim for reimbursement from your insurance company. There is no guarantee of reimbursement and will depend on your specific plan and the benefits within.
Do I need to fill out any forms before my appointment?
Yes, please. We have a few forms and documents to download, complete, and bring to your first appointment.
